I have really been slacking off on this challenge. Between books for school, library books, review books, new books....yeah, those dusty books just keep getting dustier! I'm going to TRY to keep working them into my reading schedule though, I really am!
Anywho, this book I started about 2 months ago, and I just kept putting it aside because of everything else I had to get read. I finally got it done though - thanks to my self imposed "clear off that crazy 'currently reading' goodreads shelf read a thon!"

Review:
This is a middle grade fantasy. And it's actually the first mermaid book I think I've ever read, interestingly.
I don't really have a lot to say about the book. I found it to be very slow for about the first 2/3 of the way through. I had a very hard time getting into it. I didn't really connect with the characters...Adrianne was the only one I really liked - but, I hated how everyone, and I mean just about everyone picked on her. It just made me uncomfortable. She lived with her mother, who just seemed like a very weak person, who couldn't even stand up for her own daughter, her little sister, and her mean, psycho aunt Minnah who has it out for her from the beginning. Adrianne is made fun of because she is not very pretty and rather tomboyish. I just felt bad for her, I guess. Then when she starts seeing mermaids, that doesn't really help her case any.
It didn't seem like any action really happened until the very end. I did like how it ended though. I just wish that the undersea world would have been expanded upon throughout the book.
If you like fairy tale type stories, you will probably like this one!
