"In the society, officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.
Cassia has always trusted their choices. It's hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one...until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path no one else has ever dared follow - between perfection and passion."
Wow, this was an awesome book! It is about a futuristic society where EVERYTHING is predicted, planned, and controlled by the government. You do not get to make any choices of your own, but life is perfect...or is it? They may have eradicated disease and crime, but can they really control somebody's feelings? Cassia is told that Xander, her long-time best friend, is her ideal mate, and she does love him. With him, she feels safe and comfortable. But she cannot deny the passion she feels for Ky. Should she follow the Society's rules and live a "perfect" life, or should she risk everything to pursue passion?
The sequel to this book comes out in November and I am excited to see what happens next!
I loved that this book had NO bad language, sexuality, or violence - but was still an exciting story! The popularity of this book proves that those elements are not necessary to get people to read a book. I did not hesitate one bit to hand it over to my daughter to read.
